Liberty Utilities – Empire District Implements the EnCompass Software Model for Fuel Budgeting
Anchor Power Solutions’ EnCompass software features detailed unit commitment / dispatch costs and constraints for accurate planning.
Liberty Utilities – Empire District (“Liberty-Empire”) recently selected and implemented the client/server version of Anchor Power Solutions’ EnCompass software. Liberty-Empire will use EnCompass to forecast operations within the Southwest Power Pool (“SPP”) Integrated Marketplace, including budgeting for market revenues, fuel costs, and purchased power expenses.
Anchor Power provided an EnCompass database using the same data that Liberty-Empire had used previously in another production cost model. Horizons Energy, a partner company of Anchor Power Solutions, also provided locational marginal price (“LMP”) forecasts for specific nodes in SPP combined with fuel forecasts that EnCompass can directly import.
“After an initial EnCompass training session we decided to use the new model to develop our budget on a very short time-frame,” said Todd Tarter, Manager of Market Settlements and Systems at Liberty-Empire. “The support we received during this process was crucial to our success. Anchor Power was available to answer all of our questions in a timely manner.”
“Within weeks of signing a license agreement, Liberty-Empire was able to quickly and successfully configure the software environment, host an onsite training session, and begin using EnCompass to prepare fuel budgets with up-to-date market price forecasts,” said Norm Richardson, President of Anchor Power Solutions. “By combining intuitive software with responsive support and services, Anchor Power delivers a high-quality solution in a cost-efficient manner.”
